This is so 1970s. Leisure suit. Shirt unbuttoned at the top. Beaded curtains. We were calling them Oriental restaurants. Look at those white teeth! Next stop: the Disco.

Have you tried milkshakes with United Farmers Chocolate, Strawberry, or Coffee Syrups? Mother can have these and many more wonderful products delivered to your door by calling United Farmers at either CHelsea 3-1580 or LYnn 3-0697.

Can anyone confirm the state based on the phone numbers? I’m thinking Massachusetts.
btw: backdrop is painted; the trolls and the curtains are real.

BALKAN ARMENIAN RESTAURANT, NEW YORK CITY
Happy NYC Restaurant Week (#4)
At last, a real New York City restaurant! It’s the “Nationally Famous” Balkan Armenian Restaurant at 129 East 27th Street. If you addressed the postcard, the restaurant would stamp it and mail it for you.
The meal depicted is described on the back: “SHISH KEBAB COMBINATION: Tender pieces of lamb, fastidiously trimmed of all fat and all sinews, marinated Balkan style and alternated with tomatoes, onions and green pepper delicately broiled on skewers, served with potato, lettuce and radish.”
I can’t figure out what’s on that plate northwest of the kebab with the white mound with red sprinkles

LOUIS PAPPAS’ RESTAURANT, Tarpon Springs, Florida
Happy NYC Restaurant Week (#3a)
This is Mama Pappas serving their famous Greek Salad, with LOVE. If she served a big love hug with the salad, I’d gladly accept! (Aids digestion.)
I have two more great postcards from this restaurant that I will post this afternoon. They have been longtime favorites of mine.
Verso: “True to Life Natural Color Photo of MAMA PAPPAS at World Famous Louis Pappas’ Riverside Restaurant Located at Sponge Boat Docks, Tarpon Springs, Florida. Famous for its Seafoods—Greek Salad and Cuisine. When in St. Petersburg or the Beaches — Visit Louis Pappas’ Restaurant at 1080 Pasadena Avenue, So. St. Petersburg, Florida.” (Punctuation gets wacky on some of these postcard descriptions. I type ‘em as is.)
Dig the paneling and sea-theme wall decor!
This card was mailed on February 1, 1970 from Tampa with a somewhat unsettling message: “Hi y’all, You like goody food—come on down. Weather beautiful. Wonder what the poor people are doing today. HA. Love, Keith.”

HAPPY NYC RESTAURANT WEEK! (#1)
Win Schuler’s, three family restaurants along Highway 12
Verso: “Greetings: Sure it is as good as it looks, and they really put out the groceries here. You better be hungry when you stop here, for they know how to fetch out the feed bag. A dandy luncheon for less than a dollar and five dimes, and a dinner with the most bountiful relish tray I have ever seen for two bucks and a half. Partner it is cheaper to eat here than at home, and some beautiful scenery to look at when you eat. So Long,”
…and you would write your name at the bottom of this printed script message. I’ll bet the restaurant would have paid the postage and mailed it for you.
So, New Yorkers, I don’t mean to tarnish your dining experience, but I’m sure you’ll be thinking about this with envy as you make reservations for your (much smaller) $35 dinner (or $24.07 lunch).
No state indicated, but an internet search locates the establishment in southern Michigan.
