WILD JACKALOPE
Also often called the Antelabbit, this, the most amazing of all desert animals is reputed to be a cross between a Jack Rabbit and an Antelope. Rumor has it that the Jackalope sings at night in a voice that sounds almost human.

FLYING JACKALOPE
This species: Jackapheasalope
One of the world’s rarest and most unusual animals…The FLYING JACKALOPE is most frequently found in South Dakota’s Badlands around Wall. It is extremely shy and capable of blinding speed to escape detection. Because of its evasive nature it has not been considered one of the “endangered species” despite its rarity. This prize photo was taken with a telephoto lens a short way east of Wall.
AN EXCLUSIVE WALL DRUG PHOTO.

“Among the rarest of hunter’s trophies is the timid Jackalope. The nocturnal, antlered, long-eared mammal has keen senses of both hearing and smell and is said to be attracted to alcohol. To lure this fine, 4-point, male specimen to within range of the camera the photographer used a blend of bourbon, beer and baloney.”

THE JACKALOPE
This is the 200th postcard I have published on BAD POSTCARDS since I launched it in April. I think the best way to celebrate is with the classic Jackalope. It is related to the Nebraska Warrior Rabbit.

One of many “Jackalope” postcards. I love the name given to this one.
Verso: “This unique species of wildlife has reportedly been seen by only a few people. Dwindling herds of sandhills Warrior Rabbits are thought to exist only in the beautiful Sand Hills of Nebraska. A unique specimen of this rabbit is on display in the Free Cowboy Museum at Front Street, an old west town in Ogallala, Nebraska. Photo taken on the shorres of Lake McConaughy.”
