VENUSFLYTRAPOSAURUS
That’s what I think when I see this.

ELASMOSAURUS
One of the Plesiosaurs, large marine reptiles that lived during the late Cretaceous period, 70 million years ago. 50 feet long, weighing 8 to 10 tons, it had a huge turtle-like body and a long snake-like neck and head. They spent their lives in the water, coming out on land to bask in the sun or lay their eggs, just as the modern sea turtle does today. This life size replica may be seen at the Prehistoric Gardens on the Southern Oregon Coast on Highway 101.

The 2011 National Rooster Crow Weekend begins today in Rogue River, Oregon.

ROGUE RIVER’S ROOSTERSymbol of the annual “National Rooster Crow” held the last Saturday in June each year.

Does anyone know if this “symbol” still exists?

TYRANNOSAURUS
One of my favorite dino postcards! It’s just the coolest dinosaur.
It’s like a very small toy, enlarged. It’s the shininess of it. It’s also that precise paint job—the bright yellow belly with that feces brown.
This big boy (or girl) has put lipstick on—on his lips, his nostrils, and his ears—and those eyes indicate he’s been on some serious catnip for a long time.
Dinosaurs were at their best in the 1950s and 60s. More fun than the originals.
Wanna know more about this one? Here’s what’s on the back: “Tyrannosaurus Rex, 50 feet long and 20 feet tall, was the largest land-living meat eater of all time. He was “king of the dinosaurs” during the lower Cretaceous period, 70 million years ago. The life-size replica of this giant dinosaur may be seen at the Prehistoric Gardens on the southern Oregon Coast Highway 101.”
Their red OPEN sign shines like a beacon to vacationers traveling on 101.
I’d give anything to go into the gift shop!
I haven’t mentioned any publishers names yet, but this one is by “The West in Color,” Palo Alto, California.
I KNOW there are dinosaur enthusiasts out there. There are more great dino cards to come.
