GIANT WATERMELONS

Hope, Arkansas, home of the World’s Largest Watermelons. Mr. & Mrs. Lester Kent of Route 1 (Highway 29 South) Hope, Arkansas proudly display two giant watermelons, their largest, grown in 1969, weighed 153 pounds. In 1968-69-70, the Kents grew the World’s Champion Watermelons. Hope holds the World Record of 195 pounds in 1935.

So large that they spell them with TWO “L”s! (It is spelled correctly on the verso.)

On the card, a line is drawn through “10,000” and “100,000” is handwritten underneath it.

New Yorkers: Imagine all of our current water towers replaced with ones shaped and painted like different fruits and vegetables. Any other ideas?

The Cheese is being chaperoned by Alice in Dairyland. (That’s what it says on her sash.)

The COWBOYS are BIGGER in TEXAS

To my brain, a STATE fair takes place in a STATE in the United STATES, so calling it the WORLD’S largest is inflating the brag. Everything else in Texas, however, is the World’s Largest.
