GREAT SLOTH BEAST MEGATHERIUM Pronounced: meg-a-THEE-ree-umLiterally, “great beast” Megatherium was the largest of the ground sloths, and although apparently very awkward and slow-witted, his great size and strength protected him from the large meat-eaters of his time.
